We Passed !!!

OK, we’ll admit it.  We were pretty sure we would pass our FC Inspection, but at the conclusion of the evening it is always nice to hear those words from the Inspecting Officer.  There were 2 comments that summarized the evening:

- We were organized and well prepared.

- Our Education program excels.

To say that we are pleased is an understatement.

Looking back at our last post, there are some topics that deserve updates.

- We had an attendance of 19 for Inspection.  While that is comfortably less than the Fire Marshall’s limit of 45 for our location, we had anticipated more.  Our members counted for 11 of that total.  Sadly, 7 Lodges of the 15th District were not represented.

- Our location has neither kitchen nor dining facilities, which is why “snacks” were listed instead of a dinner.  Had it been permitted, we would have preferred providing popcorn and a Big Gulp for those on the sidelines.  And maybe dumping a cooler of Gatorade on the WM after Inspection was over.  It’s never too late to start a tradition!

- We have apparently been released from Double Secret Probation, and restored to full membership in the 15th Masonic District.  According to the 15th District web site we exist (again!).  Our listed address is our former haunt (56 ½ S. High), but clicking on the map icon displays our correct location (350 N. High).  It was suggested this might have led to the low attendance, but that is doubtful.  Fifty Brothers in suits and ties standing on the sidewalk would have generated considerable conversation.

Now What?

We have several irons in the fire, so to speak, both locally and regionally.

On Monday, April 25, the Aladdin Shrine is holding a MM night in Grove City.  Their Past Master Unit will be conferring the MM degree.  Literally, this is an opportunity to see how it should be done.  Doors open at 6pm, Lodge opens at 6:45pm.

June 11 @ noon is the 15th District Grand Master's Reception Picnic at West Liberty Lyon's Park.  Contrary to the image of pomp and circumstance usually associated with a Grand Master's Reception, this one is casual - like a picnic!  It is a great opportunity to interact with Grand Lodge officers, getting to know the person, not just the title.

August 20 @ 7:30am is the 15th District Golf Outing.  Held at King’s Mill Golf Club, Waldo Ohio.  You don’t have to golf to enjoy the day.  Reportedly, there are those who walk the course with the players, occasionally coughing (yelling) during a putt, kicking a ball into a water hazard, or stepping on a ball in a sand trap.  It’s all about fun and fellowship!

September 17th @ 9am will be the 15th District Annual Meeting at Boggs #292.  Among other things discussed will be finalization of the 2023 Inspection schedule.  It’s every bit as exciting as it sounds, but at least there’s (usually) doughnuts.

September 18th @ 6pm will be the 15th District Awards Dinner.  It will be held at the Plaza Inn, Mt. Victory, Ohio.  Even if your Lodge didn’t win something (after all, this isn’t youth soccer), the food and fellowship are enough to justify attending.

November 19th @ 9am is the Fall Education Meeting, held at Palestine #158.  This is usually a fun, exciting, and informative session.  And yes, doughnuts are usually involved.

That's summarizes what we are looking at for the present. As additional information becomes available we will post it. Till the next time,

See you in Lodge!
